Yoga Type Moves, Luns, and Cold Calling

Good Thursday!

I hope your work week is ending well and that your holiday weekend gets to start a little early. If your boss has half a heart you’ll close no later than 3pm tomorrow.

Without further ado, here are a few things I’d like to say thanks for:

1. Exercises That I’d Never Do Without Chiropractor’s Orders but Which Are Awesome: I’ve never consistently done yoga type stretching exercises. Since I threw my back out, I’ve been under a chiropractor’s care.  Last two weeks, I’ve been doing some core stretches and strengthening moves. What a perfect way to start a day. There’s nothing like feeling loosened up and stretched out heading out to the office. Highly recommended.

2. This Sweet New Message Center My Wife Found: On my wife’s trip to Ikea yesterday, she found this great little message center. I love chalk.

3. Cold Calling: This will surprise you. I’m talking B2B here, so if you see my number pop up on your caller ID and you’re not a business, don’t fear.  Cold calling is kind of like doing stretches. It loosens up my sales muscles. It focuses me on how I might be able to help potential clients. It focuses me on producing, getting to know business leaders, and shedding distractions.  I totally think it should be a required class in college or high school.

4. My Wife’s Patience: I’ve discovered that I do some play-by-play during reality competition shows. I’m guessing it can be pretty annoying, but she deals with it.

5. Folks Who Lay It on the Line: A friend of mine and his family is going overseas for the summer on a mission trip–the whole family: wife and two kids. It’s not the safest situation, but it’s important, faith-stretching work. What an example.

Drop a note below if you have something that made you smile or sigh in relief this week!

A huge smile for a great God who has grown people in our ministry who can lead while I am out after knee surgery. On Wednesday after a day at the doctor who told me I was overdoing it, I had to rely on the members of our home church to meet without me, and they did for the second week in a row! They have grown in confidence and grace, so that brings not only a smile but a whole lot of gratitude!

Funny post. As I dad of three I enjoy your insights. The play by play on the competition reality shows is hilarious. I usually just walk out of the room, but play by play is a better idea.
The cold calling thing was funny, but I can’t say I have ever been thankful for cold calling. Cheers.

I should probably walk out of the room, but I get hooked. I just can’t help it!

You know, you’re right on the cold calling. I like it like I like doing squats: a necessary evil that makes me feel really good when I’m done.
